With the world rapidly changing each year and more light being shed about how humans are damaging the Earth’s environments and ecosystems, every contribution counts towards making our mark on the world less negative. At Timbertherm Windows, when we construct windows and doors, being environmentally-friendly (or eco-friendly) is one of the key principles of our work ethos.
Wooden doors and windows give a warm and beautiful aesthetic as well as bringing great value for money in how durable they are (as opposed to PVC or composite doors/windows). We use engineered timber which is extremely durable, doesn’t warp or twist and every defect is removed (such as sap or knots).
As members of TRADA we keep ourselves up to date with advances in timber technology, timber engineering techniques and of course our windows are tested to British standard by them. Keep a watch on our website and blogs for some new and exciting developments in the world of wood.
Our glues and paints are water-based, which means that they are non-toxic and non-flammable – unlike their hot-melt and oil-based counterparts – and don’t compromise on quality.
When it comes to security, wooden windows and doors are easily customisable, allowing for concealed security features as well as customisable features as well. Our flush casement windows are PAS 24 which also brings in a higher standard of security.
Energy efficiency is a priority for us and our products achieve low energy u-values. Wooden doors and windows naturally lose less heat than their PVC counterparts. As standard, all of our sash windows use high-performing, Argon gas-filled, double glazed, sealed units. This all works in combination to lose as little heat as possible.
